Tips To Using Gofund Me to Raise Money For Your Classroom

Teachers often pay up to $1,000 per year for classroom supplies. I know a teacher spends over $3,000 yearly on her classroom. It’s unfair that teachers must pay for their student’s academic resources.

Fundraising can be utilized for classroom materials, after-school programs, field trips, and more. Websites like GoFundMe, and Donors Choose help teachers raise money.

I never like asking for money for my classroom; lately, I have done a terrible fundraising job. If you are a new teacher or new to your grade level, fundraising is necessary. That wasn’t always the case. Most of my classroom library, which contains almost a thousand books, was purchased with the help of fundraisers.

Go Fund Me for Education is a great way to raise money for your classroom needs. I prefer it over Donorschoose.org because you can use the money at any store for any item, and they only charge a 5% fee to donors. With Donors Choose Fundraising, a $200 project can cost over $250.

To set up a fundraiser first go to https://www.gofundme.com/school-fundraising

Press the “Start a classroom fundraiser” button, answer the questions asked as part of the website’s onboarding process, and presto! You have a fundraiser up and running.

Here are some essential tips to remember when starting a classroom fundraising campaign.

Have a Plan –

It’s never a good idea to fundraise just to have money for the class. Have a plan for what you wish to purchase with the money before embarking on a fundraising journey. You probably should not start fundraising if you don’t know what you are raising money for.

Several questions you should consider when planning are: How much money will it cost, and what is a good goal and timeline for raising the money? What will be done if the fundraising goal is not met? What will be done with any extra money if the goal is exceeded?

Heartfelt storytelling

Explain your fundraising and the classroom you want to help. How will this funding affect students? What distinguishes the instructor or students? What makes you proud?

The top education fundraisers describe their affection for children and instructors. Include as much heart and soul as possible, so donors understand what their money will fund.

Include photographs and video

Donors adore classroom, student, and teacher images and videos. Include kids, if you can, in an informal film explaining how the donations will be used. Personalizing your fundraising boosts support.

Share

Sharing for Education campaigns often do well. Don’t only ask your immediate circle to support your cause; broaden your net to include the greater community. Some donors choose to designate their contributions to a particular course or endeavor. Think about using online forums, electronic mail, and word of mouth.

Express Thankfulness

Tell them about the fundraiser even if they can’t give. Potential contributors to your fundraising efforts could shock you.

Education fundraisers can get thank-you texts, images, and videos from beneficiaries. Send your supporters’ customized thank-you messages to show how much they helped. For donor thank-you ideas, see this post.
